Husband returns!
Back again for my daily blog post. Apparently this is what has been missing from my life. I love writing but am mandated to do so much of it at work that I sort of lost interest in journaling for myself. I also love paper, so I thought I preferred paper journals, but it's actually been so wonderful to just type my thoughts as they come. Also so helpful in processing my days.
Yesterday went fairly well. I went to the gym and that was a success, plus I hit my weekly goal of 2x per week (which is the max I pay for). I've been doing personal training (semi-private) and apparently it's what I needed to make things stick. Not the personal training, but the extremely high price tag! My family is setting aside a lot of money for this and that is really making me find the time to go. (I am very definitely an Obliger).
I picked the kids up from camp and it was raining so we decided to go get frozen yogurt. :) I had a lot of success with my new "eating on a schedule" plan, and this happened to be right during my afternoon snack time, so even I had a small cup of twist guilt-free. After that we had our usual pizza + movie night. I topped a pre-made cauliflower crust and had two slices with a big salad. Kids had carrots and celery with ranch (which they actually ate!). Here's the lunch I made, which I'm also very proud of.

We chose Harriet the Spy as our movie, which was super fun and nostalgic for me, and Joan got kind of excited to journal herself. It's a great movie for talking about how the things we write down (on paper, computer, etc) are never really private, and we should assume someone might read them, even if we meant them for a specific person (or just ourselves). And the message to always be writing and noticing, if you wan't to be a writer. I think Joan heard that loud and clear, and honestly it resonated with me, too!

Tonight Brandon gets home from his week-long work trip (he's been gone since Sunday night) and we couldn't be more excited. It will be so nice to be together as a family again. I'm doing fine, honestly, with the kids and the house (it's pretty easy without work in the picture). I would like to add a little work back in soon, but sometimes I ask myself why? I'm on sabbatical, and it's the summer when I'm not paid anyway! Let's just get my health shored up and the house in a good place and spend some QT with my kids.
Today I kind of want to get the downstairs a big more organized. Without a garage or basement, our dining room (which is where you walk into the house) becomes a kind of dumping ground. It's currently full of random stuff and boxes and returns and mail and everything from the last days of school last month. It would be nice to get the downstairs feeling good, and then we can tackle possibly getting the girls into their own rooms on the third floor. Though, this week with Brandon away they've both been sleeping in our King bed with me, which doesn't bode well for sleeping alone on a totally different floor from us. LOL.
Something that really resonated with me the other day was reading about a woman who tries to get all the 'needs' done by 10:00AM. I think that's such helpful advice as a parent, because the day can really get away from you, and then all these chores and things you know you need to do can weigh on you all day. When you get them all finished early, they day just feels so much more free and happy. (To me, I think my spouse feels more free and happy whether or not the house is in order, but for me it's allows me to relax).
